Heat-treated carbon-steel blanks are coated with lustrous bright-zinc, hydrogen-relief baked to IFI specs, then factory dry-waxed for consistently low drive torque. Radial serrations under the integral washer dig into steel or wood to resist loosening, while the Type F fluted point taps clean female threads in a pre-drilled or punched hole—chips clear through the flute; no nut required.
