Heat-treated carbon-steel blanks boast a bright zinc electro-plate, are hydrogen-relief baked, then factory dry-waxed to keep drive torque low. A ring of radial serrations under the washer bites into the mating surface to resist loosening, while the Type F fluted point taps clean female threads in a pre-drilled or punched hole—chips clear through the flute; no nut required.
